RESEARCH & MAP AREAS
Our geographic focus is the central Puget
Lowland, an extensively urbanized area within a very complicated geologic
setting. It is host to numerous geologic hazards such as volcanic activity,
earthquakes, faulting, landslides, liquefaction, and other ground failures.
These hazards, and their associated costs, are not unique to a single
jurisdiction and thus our efforts in any one area are improving the quality
of information available over the region as a whole.
